An Infrared Sauna Can Reduce Your Risk of Catching a Cold

While the common cold is a familiar sickness that most people are used to catching a few times a year, it can be a dreadful experience in the moment. Some common symptoms of catching a cold are a stuffy or runny nose, a sore throat, a cough, constant sneezing, a headache or even body aches. The worst part about colds is the fact that they are so easily caught because there are over 200 different viruses that carry a cold, so once you have experienced one of them, there are many more to go before achieving immunity. There are a variety of ways to treat the common cold and lower your risk of getting one. Using an infrared sauna as part of your weekly routine is one of the many ways you can ease your cold and prevent it from coming back.

Dealing With a Cold

According to the CDC, there is no specific cure for a cold, but there are several ways in which you can make the situation more pleasant. To avoid catching the cold, there are three basic steps that should be taken on a daily basis which are washing your hands with soap, avoid touching your mouth and eyes, and avoid being in close proximity from sick people. While these might sound like basic sanitary methods, they can do wonders for your body, especially if you incorporate using an infrared sauna into this routine.

Saunas have the ability to strengthen one’s immune system, especially if it is used on a regular basis. Saunas are known to have a detoxifying effect on the body, but this actually helps preserve the immune system through sweating. When you sweat, your body goes through much more than just removing water. Sweat is filled with all sorts of things like sodium, urea, lactic acid, potassium, magnesium, calcium, nickel, copper, iron, chromium and lead. All of these toxic substances are removed from the body inside a sauna because of the rapid sweating. This whole process helps strengthen the immune system and will ultimately reduce your risk of catching the common cold.

If you have unfortunately already caught a cold, there are ways where you can make your experience a bit more comfortable. Infrared saunas can help relieve some of the cold symptoms and make the situation more tolerable. Sometimes, it can be very hard to fall asleep when you have a cold because of the nasal congestion. Using an infrared sauna can help relax your body to make it easier for you to get comfortable at night. The sauna’s dry heat can also help dry up some of the congestion in your nose that will make it temporarily easier to breathe and ultimately easier to sleep through the night.
There are many different remedies or steps someone can take to help remove the pain and uncomfortable aspects of a cold. An infrared sauna can not only relieve some of the cold’s symptoms, but it will also provide your body with many other benefits that are helpful to the body even when it is healthy.
